SSC (now Shelby Supercars Inc.)

SSC was a company that started out in 1999 by Jerod Shelby. The headquarters are in West Richland Washington and a production of sports and super cars that are based on a Pontiac Fiero.

SSC Aero / Tuatara

The SSC Aero is a kit car based on a Pontiac Fiero. It has twin turbochargers and pushrod V8 engine.  The SSC Aero is turbocharged  turbocharged :6.35 liters(388 ccu). It was the most powerful production car until the release of the Koenigsegg One:1  in 2014. It’s top speed (Ultimate Aero) was 256 mph (412 km/h). On Sept. 13, 2007 it took the  title of the fastest production car ever made. On June 26, 2010 it lost the title again thanks to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Which now holds the record speed for production cars (267.856 mph/431.072 kmph). Then late 2010 there was a design for the Tuatara which has a custom V8. It was installed in an Ultimate Aero for testing and could’ve been installed in a Pontiac G8.SSC

History

  • In July 2007-8-12 SSC announced plans for an Ultimate Aero EV (Electric Vehicle) supposed to be rechargeable in 10 min from a 240 volt charger
  • On August 24 there was a rivalry declared between SSC and Bugatti to see if SSC can build an Ultimate Aero faster than  the  Bugatti record
  •  On July 17,2011 they announced that they would release the Tuatara (Too-ah-tar-a) which has a 6.9 liter V8  engine  that is said to produce  1350 HP  and a max. output of 1700 HP with ECO mode turned off
